I’d like to prepare a self-assessment tax return
The majority of people have their tax affairs dealt with through their payslip and HMRC’s PAYE system. However sometimes your tax affairs mean that they can’t be dealt with through PAYE and you have to prepare a self-assessment tax return. If that’s you then we can help. Perhaps you are self employed, retired or a higher rate taxpayer with investment income or you have a property you let out?
Not only can we make sure that you pay the right amount of tax on the income you have received but we can also make sure that you have claimed all the expenses and other reliefs that you are entitled to. Get in touch if you would like further information on how we could help you.
I need help with inheritance tax
As the saying goes, there are only two things certain in life – death and taxes. Sometimes the two come together in the form of Inheritance Tax. With careful planning, we can mitigate the amount of tax your estate pays on your death. However, we need to get the balance right to ensure that you have sufficient money to live on.
We can talk to you about your potential tax liability, and what we can do to reduce this. Leaving you enough money for the rest of your lifetime. We can also make sure that this is then reflected in your will by putting you in touch with one of our will writer partners. I’ve sold a property; do I need to pay capital gains tax?
Capital Gains Tax is a tax on the profit when you sell something (an ‘asset’) that has increased in value. The gain you make is taxed, not the amount of money you receive. We can help you with this complex matter by planning and structuring your transactions efficiently, claiming any relevant reliefs and ensuring you only pay out what you need. How can you help if I get a tax enquiry?
Life is full of unexpected surprises; some of them are not as good as others. HMRC have the right to visit businesses and inspect records at random. The likelihood of enquiries into a taxpayer’s affairs appears to be on the increase. The professional fees in dealing with such enquiries can often be costly so it is advisable to subscribe to a tax protection service, which will fund these fees in the event of an enquiry or visit.
